O ur investment in the future of Alpha Nu will ensure the success of our Chapter and will promote a legacy upon which to build an even greater brotherhood. Today, perhaps more than ever, college fraternities play a relevant role in shaping the lives of young men. Sigma Chi provides a small-group community that offers our members a solid foundation for their education and also affords opportunities for high academic achievement and the development of leadership and social skills. The undergraduate men have made a commitment to work hard in maintaining the programs and traditions that have benefited the lives of so many Sigma Chis over the years. Together with our active members, the volunteer leadership of the House Corporation is committed to this major undertaking, which will allow us to renovate and expand our facilities and compete with other fraternities and housing options in Austin. Remember that each of us benefited from the generosity, work, and sacrifice of those who went before us. We all enjoyed the comfort and brotherhood Alpha Nu provided during our years at UT and after we left campus. Now it is our turn to repay the Fraternity, ensuring that the same, wonderful experience is available to others. We urge your thoughtful consideration of this plan. You are the only one that can place a value on your Sigma Chi membership—on the lifelong friendships you made, the memories created, and your growth during those critical young years of adulthood. With your support, Sigma Chi will continue to provide a quality living environment that supports, nurtures, and develops outstanding young men with the skills and confidence to face an ever-changing world. Many men have sacrificed their time, pleasures, and comfort to make Alpha Nu what it is today. The commitment we make today cannot be underestimated— it will have a far-reaching effect on the lives of our Sigma Chi brothers for many years to come. Tax Deductibility The Sigma Chi Foundation and House Corporation have worked together to maximize the portion of this project qualifying as educational space for the IRS. However, significant parts of the Chapter House do not qualify as educational, thus those expenses are not tax deductible. In order to complete the project as envisioned, donors are encouraged to make a portion of their pledge directly to the House Corporation as a non-tax-deductible gift. Matching Gift If your employer offers a matching gift program, you may be able to double your contribution to the Sigma Chi Foundation. Please include a matching gift form with this pledge. Investing in Alpha Nu Gift of Securities A contribution of appreciated securities to a 501(c)(3) will not ordinarily be subject to capital gains tax on the appreciated value of the gift. If you are 70 ½ or older, an IRA charitable rollover gift can satisfy all or part of the required minimum distribution. Please consult your tax advisor for potentially significant tax advantages. To make a gift of securities, please contact our campaign coordinator at (785) 843-1661. Recognition Donors of $2,500 and above will be recognized in the appropriate giving categories in all campaign publications, unless otherwise requested by the donor. Donors at $5,000 and above will be recognized on a permanent plaque. Naming opportunities exist for individual donors of $50,000 or a cumulative gift of $100,000. Please consult your financial advisor, accountant, or attorney for professional tax advice.
