Crescent Corner A Publication for Alpha Xi Alumnae by Alpha Xi Alumnae | Spring 2017 AFFILIATED HOUSE CORPORATION CONTINUES TO CONSIDER NEEDS OF ALPHA XI Alpha Xis, with the newest members, celebrate on Bid Day. he Alpha Xi Affiliated House Corporation Board (AHC) is dedicated to the health and well-being of the chapter and its facilities. The board seeks to provide a safe, competitive, and functional living space along with delicious meals and snacks for Alpha Xi residents and chapter members. The AHC also supports the collegiate members and alumnae by hosting a reception during Homecoming and by providing lunch for graduates and their families in May. The AHC has partnered with Campus Cooks, a company servicing Greek organizations on many campuses, for the last four years. Chef Allen and his assistant have been assigned to our house for the past two and a half years. We like to think that the great-tasting home-cooked meals are a contributing factor to why the house is at capacity with residents each year. We are proud of how we have maintained the 60-year-old house both inside and out, but with the SMU campus and Greek housing being updated, we will need to follow suit. Six of the eight sororities have already rebuilt and enlarged their houses to capitalize on modern building structure, internet and security, and the ability to house more members. As with any aging home, maintenance is vital. The AHC found it necessary to replace the dining room window over spring break and is constantly upgrading security equipment to ensure a safe home for the residents. During the summer, new décor and accessories on the first floor will be purchased to provide a fresh update for the new school year. Although the AHC is currently filled with Gamma Phi Beta alumnae volunteers, we are seeking references for future Advisory Board members, house director weekend substitutes, or special project volunteers. If you are interested in any position, or know of a Dallas alumna to refer, please e-mail gpbhouse.smu@gmail.com for more information.
