PLAN A GROUP BBQ. Summer is the time to gather friends and family for a joyous celebration. McNears Beach Park offers San Pablo Bay breezes, rolling lawns, and a splash in the pool. Peaceful Paradise Beach Park has sweeping Tiburon views, shady trees, and meadows to fly a kite. Want more of a country vibe? Chill out near the sparkling blue reservoir at Stafford Lake Park. Fish, play, and hike the nature trail to burn off those picnic goodies. Sorry, no companion animals. 20 or more people in your group? Make a reservation at https://apps.marincounty.org/ ParkRes/. EXPLORE A SECRET BEACH. Upton Beach, adjacent to Stinson, stretches for 4 acres. Bring your dog and frisbee! At low tide Agate Beach, on the western side of Bolinas, is teeming with sea life. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Farallons from the towering cliffs. Chicken Ranch Beach, north of Inverness, sits on the shallow edge of Tomales Bay. Spread your blanket, wade in the water, and build a sand castle on a hot summer's day. BASK IN THE MOONLIGHT. When the days get long, you can stay up late. Check our calendar for evening events, like a Stafford Lake campfire, Ring Mountain night photography walk, or a Full Moon hike on White Hill. SCHOOL'S OUT. Keep the little ones busy by joining a free Nature for Kids naturalist walk, Learn to Ride at Stafford Lake Bike Park, or family-oriented Art in the Park at Creekside. Or hop on your bicycles and pedal down one of the neighborhood multiuse pathways in Mill Valley, Tiburon, Corte Madera, or Marinwood. LET THE FUNSHINE IN. Marin County Fair, June 30– July 4, celebrates the '60s with music, art, and fashion. This year's highlights include tie-dye and macramé competitions, flower power horticulture, groovy art and photography, and daily '60s fashion parades. As always, there are carnival rides, fireworks, and free concerts every night. Musicians include Ann Wilson of Heart, the "Hawaiian Jimi Hendrix" Willie K, The 5th Dimension, The Commodores, and UB40. For fair schedule and ticket information visit marinfair.org/2017. IT'S THE SUMMER OF LOVE YOUR PARKS Every first Saturday of the month through 2017 MEASURE A DAY!
