The film tells a fictionalized version of the true story of Hastings himself — as a Rolling Stone reporter, he followed Gen. Stanley Mc- Chrystal through a Europe- an PR tour, and published the negative comments McChrystal and his staff made about the Obama administration. Brad Pitt ("Fight Club," 1999) stars as Gen. Glenn McMahon (the character inspired by McChrystal), a charismatic four-star general in com- mand of NATO forces in Af- ghanistan. He's sent to clean up a war that is deemed impossible to win, but McMahon just doesn't know how to lose. The film's all-star cast includes Ben Kingsley ("Ghandi," 1982), Topher Grace ("That '70s Show"), Anthony Mi- chael Hall ("The Breakfast Club," 1985) and Tilda Swinton ("Trainwreck," 2015). Check out "War Machine" when it pre- mieres Friday, May 26, on Netflix. It's been 22 years since the Grateful Dead disband- ed, but its mark in rock 'n' roll history lives on. The proof lies in the new docu- mentary about the band, "Long Strange Trip," which premieres Friday, May 26, on Amazon Prime. The film, directed by Amir Bar-Lev (Happy Valley," 2014) and produced by Martin Scors- ese ("Goodfellas," 1990), chronicles the storied ca- reer of the band, from its roots in San Francisco through its transformation into legendary rock star- dom. Clocking in at four hours (or three hours and 58 minutes, if you want to be exact), the film doesn't leave anything behind. It features candid interviews with the band, road crew, family members and Dead- heads (the affectionate term for the band's fan base), showcases live per- formances and presents never-before-seen footage and videos. The film also includes new interviews done by surviving band members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Phil Lesh.
