22 J acquie Warda's career in aerobat- ics began quite by accident. She started flying at 32 years old, enrolling in ground school after spending many years with flight only as a dream. She earned a pilot's license in 1987, and it wasn't long after that she took the skies in her first dip, flip and spin flight. She was the pilot of a Cessna when a friend of hers invited her on an aer- obatics ride in his Pitts Special aircraft. She said, in the nearly 15-year career and thousands of logged flight hours, that first aerobatics flight was one of the most exciting. "I went flying with him, and I was instantly hooked," she said. "It was one of the most exciting flights I have had in my entire life." Warda said that flight solidified her destiny — to become an aerobatic pilot. It would take her a decade to achieve her dream. She went to flight school in California and incrementally earned hours and practice.
