ED Magazine May 2017 35 www.theEDexpo.com Scott Richter, Platinum 84 EXPO Bikini Contest Main Sponsor "The EXPO has given the industry a sense of legitimacy that can't be quantified. It recognized the buying power of clubs throughout the world and connected them with vendors who compete for their business, as in any other industry. At the same time, it underscored the needs and considerations unique to gentlemen's clubs by offering seminars that address the legal, financial and political challenges our industry faces. All the while, the Gentlemen's Club EXPO has never lost sight of the fact that our business is about entertainment and continues to highlight the fun and slightly unpredictable nature of the feature entertainers who are the heart and soul of the industry." "I believe that in decades to come, the industry will make a huge shift back to entertainment. The private rooms will account for less and less revenue; the drivers will be an engaging, interactive show and high-energy atmosphere heavily influenced by mainstream nightlife. The gap between adult clubs and nightclubs will grow smaller and gentlemen's clubs— if that's even the correct term for them anymore—will become more relevant to today's guest, provided we are willing to adapt!" Rick Hill, Brass Flamingo/Oasis "Friends of EXPO" Sponsor "The EXPO allows the owners of clubs to hear issues other owners are facing. Without the communication it is easy to feel like we are on an island by ourselves. A large portion of today's owners are first-timers in the club business. Many have vast experience in other lines of business. Some have too much experience with other types of lines. "There are businessmen (or lottery winners) who visit the clubs thinking the current owners are stupid and that if they owned that club it would be more successful. After all, the club business is like any other venture, right? Most of those new owners disappear within a year. The new owners that become humbled are still fighting to be a success. With the EXPO they have a place to visit once per year and hopefully gain insight. If they are wise they can make friends that will help guide them long after the show is over." Warren Cato, Club Control Systems EXPO Event Sponsor "The EXPO is the most important 'event' to happen for the industry, period. The EXPO helped bring the 'legitimacy' of the club industry to the mainstream of entertainment for adults. Taking it from the 'strip club' past to 'gentlemen's clubs,' where businessmen would take clients to close deals, husbands would take wives, fine dining even. The EXPO provided a forum for owners to meet and address issues, share ideas, and learn how to promote the industry in the best light possible for the public. It's the only event to bring vendors/suppliers and owners together. "My favorite EXPO memories over the years include receiving the "Outstanding Service Award" in 2014 for 15 years of support from (ACE Executive Director) Angelina Spencer and the members of ACE National. It meant the world to me be recognized for trying to support the industry. "I owe all the success of my ATM company to the industry and the EXPO, which opened the door for me 23 years ago. This will be our 23rd straight year attending the EXPO. The relationships and friendships over the last 23 years enabled me to launch Club Control Systems two years ago. The confidence my clients have in me to find solutions for issues they are all dealing with the operation of their clubs." Kathy Vercher, Spearmint Rhino EXPO Title Sponsor "Congrats on 25 years ED Publications! You don't look a day over 18! Much continued success on the next 25. You continue to solidify a platform for industry insiders and enthusiasts to connect, and learn from each other in a way that helps the expansion of the gentlemen's club and nightlife industries." Jack Pepper, Club Babes "Friends of EXPO Sponsor" "I think the importance of the EXPO is self-evident. Nowhere else can industry pros get together to advance our causes and needs. ED Magazine and the EXPO are the communication hub for us all to tap into. With most of us concentrating on our clubs, rarely do we get to see and socialize with one another. This is the wonderful opportunity the EXPO presents us so we can talk, compare notes, make business deals and survive! "There's so much to gain by going to the EXPO, but if you're asking me about my favorite thing, that would have to be seeing all my peers, long-time friends and associates. It's better than any school reunion I've attended! Becoming a club owner and business partner is of course a major highlight for me. But I think all the friends I have made is the best highlight of all!"
