14 www.thejewelrybook.com When a classic and well-respected jewelry brand like John Buechner stretches its wings to take a chance on an innovative, colored gemstone bridal line, the results are stunning. "We've always been a traditional 'important center stone' company", says founder John Buechner who, along with Cliff Wallace and Mike Money, is one of three partners guiding the Chicago-based John Buechner. Known for their center stone, one-of-a-kind designs and confi dent in their reputation for timeless, classic looks, they don't plan to stray too far from their iconic style even as they embrace this exciting new bridal campaign called, "Engage in Color." Focusing on the "big three" of emerald, ruby and sapphire, the collection will also include natural fancy colored diamonds for a vibrant palette of the most classic stones. "Styles are somewhat traditional," says Buechner. "They are the same, classic pieces we've always done, just with a fresh twist." Center stones will be strong, in the rich hues of colored gems, with stylized side and accent stones in unique shapes in particular, kite, arrowhead and trapezoids to name a few. Priced to be an attractive addition to any store's inventory, Buechner hopes this collection will provide retailers a new opportunity to add color to their cases. He also believes colored gemstone engagement rings speak to Millennials who want bridal choices that are unique at the same time as con- fl ict-free. Millennials are leading the way on the growing concern for ethically-sourced gemstones and fair trade practices. In part, this colored bridal line is an answer to these concerns and to meet market needs. As a member of the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) and the International Colored Stone Association (ICA), Buechner is committed to full transparency about the origin and enhancements of gems used in their designs. This collection is a shining example of Buechner's responsiveness to the industry's changing needs and trends – while staying true to the brand's identity.
