To you, our allies... For 35 years, Canal Alliance has provided immigrants in Marin County with the education, tools and resources they need to overcome poverty and succeed as new Americans. While our mission hasn't changed, our work is perhaps now more important and relevant than at any time in our history. The rhetoric from the new administration causes not only tremendous fear among immigrant communities, it also perpetuates damaging misperceptions and obscures the positive economic impact made by immigrants, particularly Latino immigrants. As the nation's fastest growing demographic group, Latinos play a crucial role in the economic, political and cultural life of our country. We have a great opportunity and responsibility to support the Latino youth who will become the parents, educators, workers and leaders of tomorrow. I invite you to visualize the future of our communities and our country as we work to ensure that all children — regardless of race, ethnicity or immigration status — graduate college ready from high school and receive the support needed to complete a four-year college degree that prepares them for a career in our competitive economy and a life- time of civic engagement. I hope you are inspired to learn more about Canal Alliance and especially our efforts to provide youth with access to quality education that prepares them to become tomorrow's leaders. Join me to shape a be er future for all of us. 3 Omar Carrera Executive Director
