Dry camping on BLM land was fun, but it wasn't without its challenges. My tiny house, named 'Bing', does not have holding tanks, which meant using the BLM outhouses. It also meant fetching water every fi ve days or so. Bing has a 5W solar panel, which is enough to charge a portable lan- tern and my cell phone. Two 5-gal propane tanks supplied fuel for cooking and heating. Fortunately, the weather did not require an air conditioner. Bath- ing was accomplished with a 5-gal solar shower bag, which after a few hours in the AZ sun, produced 2 minutes of warm water. Bing is equipped with the typical RV hook-ups, and having utilities again was more than welcoming. I am now able to use the sink, toilet, microwave and refrigerator. I look back to those BLM days with fondness. I suddenly remind myself that the next BLM season is only a few months away.
