men, eight quarterbacks, eight linebackers, seven of- fensive tackles, seven run- ning backs, three wide re- ceivers, two guards and only one defensive back. If the 49ers went with a defensive lineman such as Stanford's Solomon Thomas or Alabama's Jon- athan Allen, it would mark the third straight year their top pick went to that po- sition (see: Oregon's Arik Armstead and DeForest Buckner). It would also draw comparisons to the Detroit Lions' wide re- ceiver spree of 2003-05 (Charles Rogers, Roy Wil- liams, Mike Williams) un- der GM Matt Millen. • Quarterbacks have gone Nos. 1 and 2 the past two years (2015: Jameis Winson, Marcus Mariota; 2016: Jared Goff, Carson Wentz), as well as in 2012 (Andrew Luck, Robert Grif- fin). Quarterbacks have led off 11 of the past 16 drafts, while the other top picks went to defensive ends (three) and offensive tack- les (two). • The other quarter- backs taken No. 2 over- all since 1970: Donovan McNabb (1999; Philadel- phia Eagles), Ryan Leaf (1998; San Diego Char- gers); Rick Mirer (1993; Se- attle Seahawks); Bert Jones (1973; Baltimore Colts) and Archie Manning (1971; New Orleans Saints). All but Jones followed a No. 1 overall quarterback. This year, the 49ers fol- low the Cleveland Browns in the draft order, and al- though both are scouring for a quarterback, defen- sive end Myles Garrett is the prohibitive favorite to go No. 1. If the Browns in- stead opt for Ohio native Mitchell Trubisky, North Carolina's former quarter- back, then Garrett would be a nice gift for the 49ers. 49ers FROMPAGE1 Raiders facility. "He's ex- cited to be here and we're glad to have him. I'm glad it worked out." The Raiders have been in talks with Lynch for more than a month as the former Oakland Tech High star contemplated return- ing to the NFL after sit- ting out the 2016 season. He visited the facility on April 5 to meet with Del Rio, general manager Reggie McKenzie, quar- terback Derek Carr and other members of the or- ganization. "Every indication I got was that he was excited to play for the Oakland Raiders," Del Rio said last week. McKenzie and the Raid- ers had made the start of Thursday's NFL Draft their soft deadline for getting a deal done. With- out Lynch on board, they would've needed to tar- get a power back to re- place the departed Lata- vius Murray and go along with 5-foot-8 speedsters DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard. The 5-foot- 11, 215-pound Lynch now assumes that role. Carr was among the first to welcome Lynch aboard via Twitter and said last week that he was excited about the possibil- ity of adding the five-time Pro Bowl selection. "He's one heck of a foot- ball player and I hope to play with him," Carr said. "Anyone would want Mar- shawn Lynch. Any quar- terback in the NFL."Lynch will wear his familiar No. 24 that was last donned by Raiders great Charles Woodson. Lynch's mom, Delisa Lynch, was on the 95.7 The Game Wednes- day afternoon and said Woodson gave permis- sion, through her, for him to wear No. 24 should he come out of retirement. "I am so excited. I'm so thrilled," Delisa Lynch said. "Playing for your home team. That's like a dream come true. I am so ecstatic." After starring at both Oakland Tech and Cal, Lynch was the No. 12 over- all pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2007. Raiders FROM PAGE 1 AUTORACING F1Russian Grand Prix, Prac- tice:5a.m.,NBCSN. On the air second and third before Hayden Hamre drove Isak- sen home when he reached on an error. Kingwell struck out the next batter, issued a walk to load the bases, but then got a strike- out and pop up to retire the side, limiting the damage to 3 runs. In the Warriors' last chance to score at least 4 runs to keep the game alive, Hardy struck out the first two batters in the bottom of the fourth. Tommy Ross struck out, but the ball got away from Landingham behind the plate and Ross beat the throw. A pop fly to second ended the inning and the game. The Bulldogs go to 7-1 overall with the win and 3-0 in league play. They are scheduled to visit Chester Friday for a 4 p.m. game against the Volcanoes (4- 10 overall, 1-2 league). The Warriors are 2-8-1 overall, 0-3 league and are scheduled to travel to Bur- ney Thursday for a 3:30 p.m. game against the Raiders (10-5 overall, 3-2 league).
