ByChipThompson editor@redbluffdailynews.com @editorchip on Twitter LOS MOLINOS It was all Bull- dogs Wednesday afternoon as Los Molinos swept the Mercy Warriors 14-0 in the early game and 10-0 in the second game of a double header. Playing as the visiting team, as the first game was a makeup for a rained out game April 7, the Bulldogs put up 8 runs off of two pitchers in the top of the first and never looked back. Kavin McClellan was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the first and stole his way to third base, but that was all the offense the Warriors could muster in the in- ning. Aaron Hardy pitched the shutout for the Bulldogs, giv- ing up a walk and 3 hits while striking out 9 Warriors in four innings. The Bulldogs scored two more runs in the second, taking ad- vantage of four walks and a sin- gle from Joe Myers. Dart Kin- gwell came in to pitch for the Warriors and was able to get the team out of the inning after giv- ing up a pair of free passes. Despite a walk, a hit and a sacrifice to get a pair of run- ners in scoring position, the Warriors couldn't capitalize in the second. A double from Dylan Rocha scored Hunter Landingham, who started the Bulldogs' third with a walk, but Kingwell got the next three Bulldogs to pop up and got out of the inning giv- ing up just the one run. Again in the third, the War- riors showed some offense with singles from Will Nelson to lead off and McClellan with one away, but Hardy fanned three batters to end the rally. Hardy led off the fourth with a single and Devin Henderson and Ty Isaksen each doubled to drive in a run. Landingham walked and he and Isaksen got a double-steal to put them at BASEBALL BULLDOGSWINBIG OVER WARRIORS LosMolinos'DevinHendersontriestoapplyatagonMercy'sWill Nelson Wednesday a ernoon in Los Molinos. By Janie McCauley The Associated Press OAKLAND Golden State War- riors general manager Bob My- ers fully expects Steve Kerr to find a solution to his debilitating health issues and return to the bench without being forced out of coaching altogether because of complications from two back surgeries. It just might not be right away. "Look, what he's facing is fixable," Myers told The Associ- ated Press on Wednesday. "It's just finding the issue and solv- ing it. So I think that's how you have to differentiate what he's going through with somebody else. Some things are not fix- able in life. Some things that confront people don't have solutions. There is a solution here. We just need to discover it, and we will. I'm confident we will." The 51-year-old Kerr plans to be examined at Stanford this week and is away from the team until he feels well enough to re- turn. He didn't coach the NBA- best Warriors in Games 3 and 4 at Portland last week while deal- ing with headaches, nausea and discomfort in his neck. "It's not easy, but it's not in- surmountable. This one, we will overcome it. And those aren't just words, that's the truth. I wouldn't put a time on it but that's how I feel," Myers said. "Certain diagnoses you are forced to accept entirely and know that there isn't a solution. There is a solution for this, we've just got to find it." For now, top assistant Mike Brown is leading the way with an experienced coaching staff and veteran team as the War- riors wait to learn their next op- ponent — the Los Angeles Clip- pers or Utah — after sweeping Portland in four games. WARRIORS GM Myers confident Kerr will return to full health By Cam Inman Bay Area News Group Deal or no deal, the 49ers will use the No. 2 overall draft pick to alter the franchise's direction Thursday night. Just because there is no consen- sus No. 2 prospect in the media's mock-draft world, that doesn't mean the 49ers are powerless. A pick that high brings "op- tions" as general manager John Lynch simply calls them, and he'll field potential trade calls up until the 49ers are on the clock (about 5:10 p.m. PT). If the 49ers cannot trade down for more picks, they haven't re- vealed their preferred candidate, although they've doled respect to top quarterbacks, pass rush- ers, running backs and defensive backs — their positions of great- est need. "When you're 2-14, you're going to have a lot of needs," Lynch said. That 2-14 record created the need for a new general manager (insert: Lynch for Trent Baalke) and coach (insert: Kyle Shanahan for Chip Kelly/Jim Tomsula/Jim Harbaugh) and so much more. "We addressed some of those (needs) in free agency," Lynch added, "but there's still a lot of holes on this roster and we're hop- ing to come out of this draft with a nucleus of players that are going to represent the type of players we feel can get us back to being a team that's competing for cham- pionships on a consistent basis." What does history say in terms of all-time No. 2 picks? Typically, they've been quarterbacks or those who sack quarterbacks or those who protect quarterbacks. For an analytical-friendly fran- chise such as the 49ers, they may want to consider these No. 2-draft facts: • More defensive linemen have gone No. 2 than any other posi- tion, at least in the NFL's modern era since 1970: 11 defensive line- NFL DRAFT Can 49ers make history at No. 2? WARREN — THE ASSOCIATED PRESS FILE Running back Marshawn Lynch and the Oakland Raiders agreed to a two-year deal that will reportedly pay him a base salary of $3million. By Jimmy Durkin Bay Area News Group ALAMEDA Beast Mode is back. The Oakland Raiders and Mar- shawn Lynch announced Wednes- day afternoon that they've agreed to a deal and finalized a trade with the Seattle Seahawks that will allow the Oakland native to come out of retirement and play for his home- town team. In a message posted on Twitter, Lynch said he was "thankful" and had "hella fun" during his time in Seattle, but he's "really really really from Oakland" and considerably fired up to join the Silver and Black. Lynch and the Raiders agreed to a two-year deal that will reportedly pay him a base salary of $3 million and could earn him as much as $8.5 million. There is a $2 million bonus if he tops 1,000 rushing yards. NFL Me- dia was the first to report the news that Lynch and the team later con- firmed. Lynch returned from a trip to Haiti on Wednesday and was at the Raiders facility in Alameda — sprint- ing into the building — for a physi- cal, which he passed in order for the move to become official. In a video posted by the team, he seems down- right giddy as he's handed his Raid- ers helmet, which he wore as he ex- ited the building. Lynch's return to his hometown should at the very least create some buzz with East Bay fans still stewing over the team's planned 2020 move to Las Vegas. The Raiders will play at least the 2017 season in Oakland and hold a lease option to remain at the Coliseum in 2018. He reportedly will hold an autograph signing and block party on Thursday, although details have not been announced. The Seahawks and Raiders agreed to swap late-round draft choices in the 2018 draft. The Raiders will send their fifth-round pick in exchange for Seattle's sixth-rounder. "I'm not one to make any grand proclamations," Raiders coach Jack Del Rio said in a brief chat at the NFL BeastModereturnstohome Raiders, Lynch agree to 2-year deal as running back ends retirement GERRY BROOME — THE ASSOCIATED PRESS FILE North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky looks to pass during a game.
