Beck said she is trained in crowd manage- ment, so she will be roaming around the festival and doubling as a designated crowd control per- son. Brown said there will also be foot patrols going on throughout the day. "Typically we break the area up into zones and we team up officers in teams of two and assign them different zones to do foot patrols," Brown said. Beck said Wayne County EMS will be setting up a rescue squad ambulance on the opposite side of Main and Center Streets from the emer- gency area itself. Beck said the purpose of the emergency area, aside from educating citizens and being a pres- ence in the community, is so any crises that might arise can be handled quickly. "It's there just in case there is (a crisis)," Beck said. "The command center is inside the pickle company gate so they can get out quickly if need be." Brown said being present at the festival gives officers an opportunity not only to patrol the area, but to make contact with people and form relationships with the community. "We'll be engaging folks as they come through the emergency area and we'll be out there just to be a presence," Brown said.
