RecRuitment PRePaRations In January, the chapter had the honor of initiating 100 percent of the fall 2016 class and recruitment for our fall 2017 initiate class is well underway. Send your recommendations to Recruitment Chairman James travis '18 at rush@missouribeta.com or visit www.missouribeta.com for more information. scoRing HigH in academics and intRamuRals Zeta Phi Chapter was awarded the Interfraternity Council (IFC) Chapter Award for grade point average excellence at a January awards ceremony. Our active brothers were recognized for an all-member GPA of 3.417, which was higher than the all-Greek average of 3.212 and the all-male average of 2.913. We also ended the fall 2016 semester with first place in intramurals, leading by more than twice the runner-up's score. giving to tHe columbia community The past year has been full of opportunities for our chapter to help the surrounding Columbia community. Last fall, the wife of our house chef, Scott Young, became very ill and had to receive treatment over several weeks in St. Louis. Zeta Phi brothers, family members, and friends came together and in two weeks raised more than $10,000 for the Youngs. Our chapter also adopted two local families, for whom we raised funds and purchased over $600 worth of Christmas presents. In early March, we participated in the third annual Slapshot on Cancer charity hockey game in Jefferson City. Zeta Phi defeated Sigma Chi 2-1 in an overtime thriller. The event raised over $30,000 for the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center and Camp Kesem. leadeRs on camPus Members have exhibited impressive leadership ability on campus. gavin o'brien '18 is the president of Beta Alpha Psi and Jacob bracey '18 is the president of the Alumni Association Student Board. spencer stapf '19 is a member of the Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis steering committee. Jack schimpf '18 was admitted membership in QEBH as part of the annual Tap Day honoring campus leaders, in addition to being a member of the 2016 Homecoming Steering Committee with clayton voss '19. We look forward to outperforming ourselves each semester and making Zeta Phi alumni proud!
