BETA ETA DATA 5 Undergraduates Strive for Top TKE Chapter Award Forward Progress Made Across the Board I would like to thank everyone who attended Beta Eta Chapter's founding celebration where we were reminded of the history, traditions, and values that have brought us all together in the bond of Tau Kappa Epsilon. As we celebrate the great and storied past of the fraternity and the long history of our Chapter, we should also look proudly at the present state of Beta Eta and what the future has in store for us. Increasing Academic Success Last fall, we nearly doubled the number of men in Beta Eta, initiating 16 men—the largest pledge class in recent history. We also managed to earn a Chapter GPA of 3.06, which put us on par with the all-fraternity average. Our new members had a 3.115 average, which put them in the top five for new member GPAs amongst fraternities. We have not had a Chapter GPA over a 3.0 in several years and are incredibly proud of our academic improvement. Growing On-Campus Involvement We have also revamped our philanthropic efforts, teaming up with Chi Omega to better our efforts and increase our manpower when we run events. We have also been more socially involved with other organizations, having socials with various fraternities, sororities, sports teams, and other campus organizations. We improved our presence on campus with two-thirds of our active Fraters involved in organizations, many of them holding officer positions in those organizations. Members Awarded for Excellence Two Fraters were founding members of organizations in the last year; Josh Nixon '13, BH1093 founded Young Americans for Liberty and I founded the club wrestling team, which won New Organization of the Year in 2016. We also had a strong presence at the Greek Awards banquet, winning Most Improved GPA, Chapter Advisor of the Year (Darryl Brinkmann '74, BH534A), Greek Alumnus of the Year (John Eash '75, BH536), IFC Man of the Year (Josh Nixon '13, BH1093), and Greek Leadership Award (Josh Nixon '13, BH1093). All of these awards, activities, and efforts have helped improve our image on campus and have left people with a positive impression of Tau Kappa Epsilon. Eyes Set on Top TKE Chapter Award As you can see, we have a lot going on with Beta Eta and these numbers are a good indication that our Chapter is going in a strong direction. We plan on keeping the momentum going and are shooting for a Top ΤΚΕ Chapter Award this spring. We want to build TKE back up to being one of the top fraternities at MS&T. Thank You, Loyal Alumni The Chapter House construction is coming along nicely and is scheduled for completion the June. The new Chapter House is a great and necessary step for us if we want to continue to prosper as a fraternity. This feat would not be possible if it were not for the tremendous efforts of our Board of Advisors, Alumni Association, and the generous donations from all of you. For all that you have done for the Chapter, I, along with the rest of the active Chapter, would like to thank you. If you have yet to donate, we would like to encourage you to help us secure a strong future at MS&T.
