We look forward to hearing from you! f l $ Memory and Our Mystic Shrine J ames Righter '58 entered Our Mystic Shrine on November 6, 2016. He was born October 29, 1936, in Chicago, Ill. Jim graduated from Danville High School with academic honors, and was a star tennis and basketball player. At Purdue he received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Jim then continued his education at the Indiana University School of Business, receiving his MBA in 1960. His professional career was in construction, as he had his own mechanical construction firm for 12 years. He was a long-time member of Traders Point Hunt, serving on their Board of Governors, as well as serving on the Indianapolis Board of Heating and Cooling Examiners. Jim was exceedingly kind, loyal, and devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Righter; his two daughters, Laura Burgener (Scott) and Cindy Lamberjack; three grandsons, Joe and Ben Lamberjack and David Burgener; his sister, Mary Hallmark; his brothers-in-law, Mike Hurley (Claudia), Sam Hurley (Jane), and Gordon Modrall; his sister-in-law, Billy Ann Burch; as well as remarkable cousins, nieces and nephews. D avid Byrne '65 entered Our Mystic Shrine on November 4, 2016, after a hard-fought battle with an acute illness. He is survived by many loved ones, none more so than his wife of 49 years, Ellen. David was born on December 7, 1942, in Hammond, Ind. He is the son of Thalia and Johnny Byrne and the older brother to Bruce Byrne. David went to Morton High School, class of 1961. At Purdue, David served as Beta Mu Chapter President, Editor in Chief of the Exponent, sports editor and broadcaster, and was a member of many councils and societies. David served in Vietnam in the Signal Corps where he was awarded a bronze star. After returning home, David continued his work at Inland Steel and earned his law degree from John Marshall. He spent his entire career at Inland, retiring as the Senior Director of Human Resources. While David was at Inland, he remained active in the community and served as president of the Lake Area United Way. David also participated in other activities, including Junior Achievement, advisor to the Munster Town board, working with Purdue athletics, and was very passionate about Beta. He served many years on the house board, as well as being a District Chief, and was at Homecoming with his classmates just about every year. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, gardening, and woodworking. David is survived by many loved ones, including his wonderful wife, Ellen Byrne; his two children, Julie (Matt) Tiedgen and Dan (Danielle) Byrne; His brother, Bruce (Barbara) Byrne; and four grandchildren: Devin, Jocelyn, Emma, and Nora. He is now joining those many he cared for and loved that preceded him in death, including Thalia and Johnny, Vickie and Danny, and his grandson, Will.
