Bishop Seabury Academy 1 Then and Now A Community on the Rise B ishop Seabury Academy, which was once a dream, has become an established school serving the Lawrence community's children. A dedicated group of prominent and generous citizens worked to plan for a school "dedicated to high-quality education rooted in moral principles." Thanks to their efforts, Bishop Seabury welcomed 30 seventh and eighth graders to its original location in the old Kaw Valley country school east of Lawrence on September 3, 1997. During the school's earliest years, enrollment grew, and in August of 2003, 113 students were enrolled in grades 7-12. In the fall of 2011, the school expanded to include sixth grade. Fast forward to today and Seabury is well known as a college- preparatory school promoting individual academic growth and character development. However, it is best recognized as a community defined by excellence, respect, and mutual support as Seabury offers a culture of honor and responsibility where students actively strive to be good citizens and friends. It is this type of environment that has positioned the school to see enrollment growing at 5-10% each year. Prompted by this significant growth, the school's current leadership has engaged in a master planning process to look toward the future of Bishop Seabury Academy. A community defined by excellence, respect, and mutual support, Seabury offers a culture of honor and responsibility where students actively strive to be good citizens and friends.
