MARCH 22-28, 2017 UCW 27 WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM CUMBERLAND Rabies Vaccination Clinics March 28 - April 20 co.cumberland.nc.us Find us on social media Starting March 28, rabies vaccination clinics for dogs and cats will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. until April 20. A total of 16 clinics at different sites throughout the county are scheduled. The cost is $10 per animal. State law requires all dogs and cats over four months of age to be vaccinated against the rabies virus. To remain properly immunized, a dog or cat must receive two rabies vaccinations one year apart, then one vaccination every three years thereafter. All rabies vaccination clinics will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. at the following locations. March 28: Mazarick Park, 1612 Belvedere Ave., and Martin Edwards Auction Services, 10335 Ramsey St., Linden March 30: Loyd E. Auman Elementary School, 6882 Raeford Rd., and Rockfish Elementary School, 5763 Rockfish Rd., Hope Mills April 4: Massey Hill Classical School, 1062 Southern Ave., and Melvin Honeycutt School, 4665 Lakewood Dr. April 6: E.E. Miller Elementary School, 1361 Rim Rd., and Eastover- Central Elementary School, 5174 Dunn Rd. April 11: Warrenwood Elementary School, 4618 Rosehill Rd., and Alderman Road Elementary School, 2860 Alderman Rd. April 13: Benjamin Martin Elementary School, 430 North Reilly Rd., and Clear Path Recycling (formerly Monsanto), 3468 Cedar Creek Rd. Resilient Redevelopment Meeting March 29 Cumberland County will hold public meetings March 29 and April 12 to gather input for the county's Resilient Redevelopment Plan in response to the effects of Hurricane Matthew. Both meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Cooperative Extension auditorium in the Charlie Rose Agri- Expo Center, 301 E. Mountain Dr. Call 910-678-7641 for information. Mid-Carolina Senior Games April 19 - May 8 Athletes, artists, cheerleaders and volunteers are needed to participate in the Mid-Carolina Senior Games April 19 through May 8. The annual competition offer opportunities to stay fit, have fun and make friends. The Senior Games are open to people age 50 and above in Cumberland, Harnett and Sampson counties. March 29 is the deadline to register. Sports categories include pickleball, swimming, badminton, golf, bowling and track events. Non-athletic events include painting, sculpture, knitting, writing and dramatic arts. Cheerleaders and volunteers are also needed for the Senior Games. Library Hosts Storytelling Festival March 24-31 The Cumberland County Storytelling Festival will be held March 24 - 31, with activities for children and adults at all eight library branches. The theme for this year's festival is "Music." The festival will kick off at Headquarters Library March 24 at 7 p.m. with a performance by master storyteller and musician Roger Day. The festival will also feature cross-cultural entertainment and folktales from Irania Patterson and music unique to the Carolinas from Charles Pettee.
