The race will begin at 7 a.m. in downtown Fayetteville at Festival Park and finish at Fort Bragg's Main Post Parade Field. To receive finisher medals, full marathon runners have to finish in under seven hours and half marathon runners have to finish in under four hours. The All-American Marathon will start in downtown Fayetteville at Festival Park. Racers will run up Ray Avenue to Hay Street, where they will run through the heart of historic downtown Fayetteville, past the Market House. The route will then take runners up past N.C. Veterans Park, and the Airborne and Special Operations Museum, which is home to the historic Iron Mike Statue. Runners will continue running up Morganton Road through the Historic Haymount District of Fayetteville, traveling rolling hills until reaching the All-American Expressway. After running on the All-American Expressway for about four miles, racers will enter the Fort Bragg Installation on Gruber Road. The race course will then lead runners past the home of the 82nd Airborne Division and past Pope Army Airfield. Marathoners will finish their course with scenic views of FORSCOM Headquarters and past Fort Bragg's Iron Mike statue, finishing at the Main Post Parade Field. Human Relations Hosts Annual Community Recognition Awards Celebration The Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commission will host its Annual Community Recognition Awards Reception Celebration on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the Embassy Suites, 4760 Lake Valley Drive, Fayetteville. This year's theme is "Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commission: Making Fairness, Equality and Unity a Way of Life." Tickets for the reception are $25 per person. Hors d'oevures will be served with a social hour beginning at 5 p.m. The purpose of the Annual Community Recognition Awards Reception is to publicly recognize community members by acknowledging their active involvement throughout the community in the advancement of better race and human relations in various categories. Each Award Recognition category for this year's ceremony is listed below: Ronald McElrath Commission/Organization Award Carlos & Terri Union-Zukowski Humanitarian Award Ester Dept & Mary McAllister Individual Award Alphonso McCoy Youth Award This year's awards will also highlight the Lifetime Human Relations work of Rep. Elmer Floyd. Rep. Floyd was a former Director of the Fayetteville Human Relations Department for 28 years and continues to look after the best interest of state and local Human Relations Commissions. Rep. Floyd continues to ensure equality and fairness for all of our community citizens. The Annual Community Recognition Awards Reception is a major contributor to the commission's Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK), Jr. Scholarship/Endowment Fund. Proceeds from the awards reception support the scholarship/endowment fund maintained by the Cumberland Community Foundation.
