The two were subsequently arrested and booked into Tehama County Jail on the felony charge of being in possession of firearms and am- munitions while prohibited to do so. Both were being held in lieu of $10,000 bail. When deputies arrived to the scene they con- tacted the homeowner, George John Kokolios, 39, of Cottonwood who had a .45 handgun on his hip and was shooting a homemade weapon, also called a zip gun, that shoots shotgun shells, ac- cording to a press release issued Monday by the Tehama County Sheriff's Office. The second subject was identified as Roy Lee Croft, 39, of Anderson. Kokolios and Croft were found to be in pos- session of one handgun, four zip guns and copi- ous amounts of ammunition that was found in- side and outside of the home. Both suspects were arrested for the listed charges after deputies learned they were con- victed felons and booked them into the Tehama County Jail. The firearms and ammunitions were confis- cated as evidence. CRIME Twomen arrested, firearms found The Associated Press SANFRANCISCO Several San Francisco Bay Area mountains are blanketed in snow following a weekend cold weather system while scattered showers also caused hail in some areas. Highway 9 and Skyline Boulevard near Sara- toga, where the elevation is about 2,000 feet, re- ceived a heavy dusting Monday. National Weather Service forecasters say snow also hit Mount Diablo in Contra Costa County, Mount Hamilton just east of San Jose and Mount Tamalpais in Marin County. Temperatures dipped into the 30s Sunday night. Meteorologist Roger Gass says the mix of near-freezing temperatures and scattered show- ers could bring more snow at elevations of 2,500 feet around the region Monday. Elsewhere, Interstate 80 was closed and chains were required on Highway 50 Monday as a cold system brought blowing snow to lower elevations. Caltrans says I-80 was closed eastbound at Ap- plegate and westbound at Stateline. In Southern California, mountains have a dust- ing of new snow following the passage of a weak weather system over the weekend. "We wanted to make an event where people could learn more about health and wellness as well as be able to support others in the industry," said Christi Szychuld, who co-founded the event with Liz Merry. The two often do small events in the area, but wanted to see one that was focused more on health, Merry said. "Christi and I do this often, but wanted to do something that was more specialized," Merry said. "We wanted to accentuate the fact that health and beauty are dependent upon each other and to treat it holistically. We have a nu- tritionist, someone for spiritual health and a vari- ety of diverse categories so people can focus on what they need for their own personal journeys." "The show has been very successful and the feed- back we've had is that it's a quality show," said associa- tion President Jim Tilton. While hosted by the Gold Country Associa- tion, the event is both a National Cutting Horse Association- and Pacific Coast Cutting Horse As- sociation-approved event and has been known to draw people from Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wash- ington as well as through- out California and Nevada, despite a conflicting event in Idaho. This shows its reputation is growing, Til- ton said. "We hope to build this show up and attract peo- ple from all over the West Coast and Western United State," Tilton said. "We're hoping it will be a big event that becomes some- thing that when peo- ple plan their schedule of shows they put it down as a show not to be missed. We're very pleased with the turnout and the support of the fair staff, board and the community through spon- sorships and the welcome they gave us." A number of Tehama County businesses were sponsors and the Red Bluff- Tehama County Chamber of Commerce, with assis- tance from the Tehama County CattleWomen, hosted a welcome recep- tion Friday.
