In addition to housing Wayne County's ag agencies and their events, the new MRACC will also provide the best in conference and event facilities, bringing millions into the local economy. MAXWELL REGIONAL AGRICULTURAL AND CONVENTION CENTER (MRACC) A recent partnership with the County of Wayne and the City of Goldsboro has allowed local officials to build the Maxwell Regional Agricultural and Convention Center. Agriculture is the largest industry in the county. An agriculture center has been needed for years and several attempts have come up short in the past 20 years. The partnership will create a facility that will not only meet the needs of our agriculture industry, but meet the needs of our entire community. The Maxwell Regional Agricultural and Convention Center is being build beside Wayne Community College on Wayne Memorial Drive. The 56,000 square foot facility will house the local agriculture agencies; Cooperative Extension, Wayne Soil and Water, and USDA Farm Service Agency. The convention center will have seating for 1,500 theatre and 800 at round tables. The facility will also have five breakout rooms. Another exciting component of the campus is the Ag Carolina Farm Credit Farmers Market. The Farmers Market will allow local farmers to sell fresh locally grown produce to eager customers. The county project is being made possible from local, state, and private funds. Many local agriculture businesses have given significant funds to assist with this project. The Maxwell Family, owners of Goldsboro Milling Company and Butterball Turkeys have the naming rights for the facility. Many other Agriculture businesses and farmers have made contributions to the project. The property beside the center will house a hotel and restaurants. They will compliment the new center and help make the facility an attractive destination for meetings, trade shows, concerts, and graduations. 2017 Windows of Wayne.indd 34 12/13/16 7:32 PM
