19 Goldsboro Parks & reCreation In 2016, the City of Goldsboro opened the new WA Foster Center, a facility with activities and programs for all ages, and in 2018, the city will have one of the finest multi- sport complexes in the state, featuring eight regulation soccer/lacrosse/football fields, a splash pad, and much more. WA Foster Center WA Foster Center opened it's doors in April of 2016. The center features a kids and adult game room, art room, rental space, fitness room, an outdoor pool, and a gymnasium. Located at 1012 John Street. the WA Foster Center is been busier than ever, and we at Goldsboro Parks and Recreation couldn't be more pleased. Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course The Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course moved its pro shop to 1501 S Slocumb Street at the Goldsboro Event Center. The new facility has large locker rooms and showers, as well as a grill and outdoor eating area. Skate Park Also in 2016, a skate park located next to Stoney Creek Park opened its "ramps" to the public. On any given day, visitors can find teens and grownups on their skateboards or bikes, and even a little kid learning the ropes on a scooter or skates. Herman Park Planning With the opening of the new WA Foster Center, our Herman Park Center is now the oldest recreation center in Goldsboro. Plans are in the works to build a new, state-of- the-art facility at Herman Park, with a double gymnasium, walking track, fitness room, rental space, and art/activity classrooms. Events Goldsboro Parks and Recreation offers high quality youth and adult sports, camps, movies on the lawn, special events and festivals, concerts, and more. We have also expanded our activity classes by adding adult and youth jazz and youth ballet classes. We will continue to offer and expand on our dynamic special events including Cruise the Neuse, Tube the Neuse, Sunday in the Park, Beak Week, Jingle in the Park, Beaver Moon Bike Ride and so much more! If we're not doing it, it's only because you haven't asked! This article was written by Scott Barnard, Director, Parks & Recreation Department, City of Goldsboro.
