The city has also started seeking bids for the first leg of the project that will involve constructing the fields and other site work. A second contract will be awarded, at a later date and after field construction, for the addition of buildings, including concessions, picnic shelters and restrooms. The contract will also involve the addition of the parking lot, and a walking trail is planned inside the complex. The city of Goldsboro has been seeking naming rights sponsors for some of the construction costs. Once the site is finished, the Air Force will have access to the site on designated dates and times for league play, special events and for the fitness of its service members, according to the lease agreement. A joint-use schedule is expected, which may involve giving the Air Force 40 hours a month and somewhere between 90 to 100 weekend dates per year for the life of the 20-year lease, which can be renewed. The agreement serves as rent paid in exchange for the city's otherwise full-time access. Entering into the partnership with the base has allowed the city access to a prime piece of property that will offer benefits for the community and the military for decades. "We already partner with the base on them doing some recreation, like some of the youth soccer games," Guthrie said. "The city has always partnered with the base on various activities, whether it be recreation, I think we've helped them with code enforcement in the past, protection of the (installation) and zoning land- use regulations. "The local military was very interested and a great partner with this. It's a great community amenity." Continued from 36 Multisports Complex Advertising that works.
