According to the press release issued Wednesday by the Red Bluff Police Department, Lindsay Lang, 33, began having sexual relations with the boy shortly after his 14th birthday in August 2016. Between August and October 2016 the vic- tim reported five separate sexual encounters with Lang. During the fifth encounter the victim's 13-year-old male friend also participated in the sex acts. The incident occurred on the 1000 block of Franklin Street. Lang is known to the first victim and it was not believed there were other victims as of Wednes- day afternoon. The boy was brought into the Red Bluff Po- lice Department by his mother Monday to report the crime. The victim's mother confronted Lang and she agreed to turn herself in, according to the release. When detectives learned Lang was at the Butte County Courthouse in Chico, the Butte County Sheriff was contacted and Lang was detained. Lang was subsequently interviewed and ar- rested by Red Bluff Police and booked into Te- hama County Jail on felony charges of assault and ARREST Womanaccusedof having sex with minor Staff Reports REDBLUFF A man's body was found around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dog Island Park but no further information was available as of late Tuesday. By Heather Hoelscher hhoelscher@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Heather on Twitter CORNING The Corning Patriots pre- sented a check for $21,560 to Police Chief Jeremiah Fears Tuesday for the Corning Police K-9 Program. The group, with the community's help, raised more than its target goal of $20,000 for the Corning Police De- partment to obtain a police K-9, which includes the purchase of the dog and the police training. An account was opened at the end of August 2016 with the Corning Ra- bobank branch, which accepted do- nations for the program. There were more than 20 dona- tion cans placed around town at lo- cal businesses. To continue the efforts to raise funds the group hosted a hot dog and hamburger fundraiser dinner on Oct. 24, 2016, when items were raffled off and a dessert auction was held. A yard sale was held at Woodson Elementary School with residents coming out to support their local law enforcement. Corning Patriots members Jerry Le- quia and Patty Smith presented the check to Fears and Lequia thanked everyone involved, including the resi- dents of Corning and Tehama County, organizations and businesses. The Red Bluff Masonic Lodge, Los Molinos Lodge 150 and Molino East- ern Star 83 worked together to make a combined donation of $8,000, donated in December 2016. All involved enabled the group to raise the funds needed to replace the department's K-9 team, Lequia said. The department has been without a K-9 team since K-9 handler Fears was promoted to chief, and his K-9 Oso re- tired. The K-9 program is close to Fears' heart, he said, so he appreciates the ef- forts made to bring a new K-9 to the department.
