Mr. Loran Poe Walker, Sr., age 93, of Shelby, NC, passed away on January 12, 2017. Funeral services were held at Elizabeth Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Full Military Honors. Mr. Walker served our country in the U.S. Army dur- ing WWII in Europe. He received five Bronze Service Stars and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Washington and Myra Jemima Watkins Walker; a brother, Kenneth Walker; and two sisters, Merle Richards and Ibera Isaacs. Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Floy Garver Walker; their children, Cindy Hamrick and husband, Rick of Shelby, NC, Poe Walker Jr. and wife, Linda of Toano, VA and Brent Walker and wife, Susie of Shelby, NC; and four grand- children and two great grand- children.
