TheAssociatedPress SAN FRANCISCO A fast-mov- ing cold front brought more rain and snow to California on Friday, starting in the north and then moving southward. Winter storm warnings were posted for the Sierra Nevada and mountains elsewhere, including ranges from the Central Coast southward from Los Angeles to San Diego counties. People intending to travel through the mountains were urged to be prepared for poten- tially heavy snow and dangerous conditions. Forecasters predicted snow would fall at low elevations up and down the state due to cold air behind the front. The San Francisco Bay Area, for example, might see scattered snow showers at elevations as low WEATHER Fast-moving cold front brings more rain to state By Heather Hoelscher hhoelscher@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Heather on Twitter RED BLUFF The City Council ap- proved the request by Red Bluff Fire Chief Ray Barber Tuesday to hire a full-time firefighter to join the B shift, through funding from the quarter cent sales tax increase that went into effect in April 2015. The sales tax initiative was put into place to assist the city's parks, police and fire depart- ments but is placed in the general fund. The additional sales tax rev- enue was supported by the public for enhancement of public safety. Hiring an additional full-time firefighter will increase safety to the community as well as fire- fighters and reduce injuries by having more immediate help on calls, which should reduce poten- tial workers compensation claims, Barber said. Michael Flowerdew, 20, of Red Bluff, who was reported to have the shortest relationship with the teen, pled guilty to the charges of meeting with a minor for lewd purposes and sexual penetration of a person under the age of 18 and was sentenced Monday to three years of formal probation, 270 days in Tehama County Jail and is required to register as a sexual offender. Bryan Morrison, 19, of Red Bluff pled guilty to meeting with a minor for lewd purposes, sodomy of a person under 18 years of age and two counts of oral copulation of a person under 18 years old. He was sentenced to three years of formal probation, 120 days in county jail and is required to reg- ister as a sexual offender. The other men involved were Thomas Seagraves, 22, of Red Bluff and Alexander Isaacson, 20 of Gridley. Seagraves was charged with one count of transporting a child under the age of 16 for purposes of lewd conduct and two counts of oral copulation with a person un- der 18 years of age. Isaacson, 20, pled guilty on Oct. 14 to the charge of engaging in lewd or lascivious behavior with a minor, arraigning a time to meet with a minor and partic- ipating in an act of sodomy with a person who is under 18 years of age. The four men were arrested on April 19. The investigation was initiated by School Resource Officer Heidi Thomas. There was a review of more than 26,000 text messages over an eight-month period. Those messages reportedly refer- enced sexual encounters between the suspects and the victim. It was reported that Seagraves initially had a relationship with the boy and had forged a note for the boy to receive a ride from the bus to his house instead of the boy's home. With 66 points awarded to the feed store it just barely beat out Michael Lambert's Farmers Insurance Agency, which took second place with 63 points. Third place went to Robin's Nest with 45 points. The contest was started by Bryan Fox, Los Molinos Chamber vice president, af- ter he and his wife Ranita saw the 2016 Great Light Fight on television, in which a Redding family won the grand prize, Ranita Fox said. The Los Mo- linos contest had a great turn out for the first year. "We just wanted to light up the street as much as we could," Bryan Fox said. "Billy Fox lights up the trees (along State Route 99E) every year so we thought why not do all the businesses too and light it up." The winner receives a tro- phy with Santa Claus, mod- eled after Los Molinos resi- dent Terry Owen who plays Santa at many local events, to keep along with brag- ging rights for the year, said Bryan Fox. There are 30 spots on the perpetual tro- phy and the hope is to make it an annual event with the possibility of adding residen- tial properties to the contest next year.
