Phi Gamma Delta - University of Texas

M y name is Pierce Durham PC '14 and it is my honor to serve as president of the Tau Deuteron Chapter for the 2016-17 school year. The cabinet and I were put in a great position by the BCA and last year's leadership, specifically Walker Shirley PC '13, my predecessor. We are very proud of our Chapter involvement on campus, new member class, and philanthropy goals for the coming school year. Campus Involvement Though we dedicate much of our time to Fiji, the Chapter has always stressed the importance of extracurricular involvement. This year, eight of our members earned leadership positions in UT's Interfraternity Council, including Will Deer PC '13, who is the sitting president, and Danny McNamara PC '14, who is the sitting vice president. Fijis have taken active roles in service organizations as well, with Luke Hart PC '13 taking over as president of Silver Spurs Service Organization and Ryan Baumgartner PC '13 becoming president of Texas Cowboys. In addition to extracurricular involvement, the Chapter earned a 3.29 GPA, ranking eighth out of 29 fraternities on campus. New Member Class This year, Fiji took 53 new members from 16 different cities and four states. We took only the best leaders, decorated athletes, scholars, and men of high character to build upon the tremendous legacy of more than 100 years of Fiji men at UT. Texas Fiji Carries on sTrong Leadership This FaLL Philanthropy Expansion The Chapter has begun a new philanthropy initiative to support B+, an organization with low administrative costs that battles children's cancer through research and emotional support of cancer victims and their families. We hope to raise more than $40,000 for this worthy cause and make a real impact in the fight to end childhood cancer. I look forward to the honor and challenge of being president of this esteemed Chapter. The cabinet and I will work to maintain its legacy and ensure that generations to come will have the same opportunities that were afforded to us. I appreciate everyone's continued support and look forward to seeing you all soon.
