Main Street Quartzsite, AZ 928-927-6664 Mountain Quail Cafe owner and newly elected Mayor, Norm Simpson has launched a campaign to "MAKE QUARTZSITE GREAT AGAIN!" Quartzsite is a great town full of people who give of themselves with events that help others. In honor of the GREAT town of Quartzsite, a hat has been designed to promote the positive thinking. Though it may look familiar, the hat is intended to move positive thinking forward and with each purchase $1.00 will be donated to charity, the tag will be placed in a drawing for an additional hat. Hats are for sale at the Mountain Quail Cafe, on Moon Mountain Ave. in Quartzsite, and will continue their fund raising throughout the season. If you are seen wearing MQGA hat on the streets by Oney Budge you may be stopped and given an additional draw- ing ticket. Wear your hats to support positive thinking. Make Quartzsite Great Again and always. Mountain Quail Cafe fundraiser Submitted by Linda Taylor We had an excellent turnout for our fi rst tournament of the season. Tournament director, Jerry Taylor, was especially happy with the good scores for the day considering the course is always a challenge. The team of George Lische and newcomer Bob Carrington were in great form as they fi red an exceptional round of 37. That is 19 under par! The 2nd best team with a strong fi nish was Harvey"sweet swinger"Gibson and Bill "lefty" Toner who shot 39. For 3rd place there was a 4-way tie with the teams of Brad Romaine & Robert Barnard, Pete Lilly & Larry Jensen, Con Smith & Cletus Winkler, and David Swindell & Jerry Taylor all having rounds of 41. Golf ball winners were Robert Barnard with closest to the pin on #9 and Pete Lilly was closest to the pin on #8 with a hole in one!. In long drive competition, Jerry Taylor was the winner for men, Linda Taylor was winner for women, and Cletus Winkler was the senior winner (75 & over) on hole #13. There were no holes-in-one on hole #1 for the day. Rainbow Acres residents continuously are trying to improve our little golf course. Thanks to Larry Schroeder we now have benches on all the holes. Dewayne Farmer and his crew have spruced up the course. There are ladies and men's tees as well as a portable outhouse. The tournament for November 26 was cancelled as most of the par- ticipants were going to be busy with Thanksgiving activities. The next scheduled tournaments are Fridays, December 16 and 30 starting at 9:00. We have a great time and are always looking for new participants. Hope to see you on the links!
