Gift Opportunities Y ou are the only one who can place a value on your Beta Theta Pi membership—the lifelong friendships you made, the development of your abilities, values, and principles, and the many ways Alpha Nu enhanced your college years. Your participation in this campaign is absolutely vital to the continued success of our fraternity. Now is the time to ensure we continue building on our tradition of excellence. Your significant commitment to this major undertaking is needed for Alpha Nu to remain the leading fraternity at KU. Due to the magnitude of Alpha Nu's needs, we urge all brothers to consider major gifts to the campaign. GivinG oPTionS To help donors make the largest gift possible, pledges may be spread over five years. Early payments of pledges to the campaign are preferred to reduce borrowing costs. Deductibility There is a need for contributions that are not tax deductible to complete the retirement of the debt and renovations of the house that are not deemed "exclusively educational." Donors who pledge $25,000 or more may be eligible for a tax deduction, and these gifts will be directed to the Alpha Nu Educational Foundation. Additionally, donors pledging $25,000 or more may also consider the following two giving options to maximize their support of Alpha Nu and maximize significant tax advantages. appreciated Securities held over 12 months Gifts of appreciated securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds) owned more than 12 months to the Alpha Nu Educational Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity, have tax advantages. The full fair market value is deductible as a charitable contribution, but the gain is not taxed, as it would be if you sold the securities and donated the cash. ira Transfers People over 70 and a half can transfer up to $100,000 per year from their traditional or rollover IRA to the Alpha Nu Educational Foundation. The gift must go directly from the IRA to the Foundation. It counts toward the annual minimum required distribution amount and is not included in your adjusted gross income. Please consult your tax advisor for personal advice.
