PAGE 3 FKQ Large Alumni Turnout for Homecoming H omecoming was an amazing success with a turnout of over 125! A huge thank-you goes to House Parents Ann and Paul Gaffney for taking care of all of the food. We deep fried 20 pounds of prime rib and 17 pounds of turkey. It was great to see so many people make it back for the meetings and tailgate. Even though the Cyclones couldn't get anything to work, we had a great time. Thanks again to everyone who made the trek back to Ames! W hen Ted Anders '11 joined Phi Kappa Theta, the Iowa Xi Chapter became his home away from home. "I came to Iowa State from Missouri not really knowing anyone. I was able to meet guys who became some of my best friends and found a foundation for support and guidance that I would not have had otherwise," Ted says. "My dad, Chuck Anders '81, was in the fraternity, so the legacy connection made it even more comfortable for me—Iowa Xi was home." Looking back Ted fondly recalls, "My dad introduced me to some of his fraternity brothers and he brought me to the house to take a tour when I was first visiting the university. He has since passed away, but he loved coming back to the fraternity and we went to several football games together when I was in school. I really cherished that bond we had, because I think it brought us closer together. It's great to see the chapter doing so well. It's my hope that more guys can have a chance to share a similar experience with their sons." Making it back for Homecoming and other alumni events is important to Ted. "I always enjoy Homecoming, both the football game and being able to see and reconnect with brothers I haven't talked to in a long time. It's always a fun atmosphere." He encourages other alumni to stay connected to the chapter and says, "It's important because the fraternity means a lot to all of us, and it needs our continued support to ensure that we always have that home to come back to." Ted tries to keep in touch with as many of his brothers as possible. "I currently live with Talon Larson '14 and Linden Shoup '13 and recently went on a fishing trip with David Westhoff '11." Ted works in Kansas City, Mo., for TMC Transportation where he is a fleet manager for flatbed truck drivers. When he is not working, Ted enjoys fishing, golfing, and playing softball.
