At The Salvation Army Thrift Store and Service Center we're thankful we can help the less fortunate. "It is more blessed to give than to re- ceive." Our goal this year is "to give a hand-up not just a hand-out." This year we decided not to dupli- cate the Thanksgiving efforts of the Food Bank and Isaiah 58 Project but to supplement and assist them. So we're partnering by providing them with 800 cans of fruit. We're also providing carrots, onions, potatoes and cranberry sauce for their "home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner." They're back! Look for them. The Red Kettle bell ringers. The "Silver Bells" of Christmas will ring in front of Dollar General, Roadrun- ner Store, General Store, HCB Bank, and the post offi ce. This nationwide Christmas tradition will begin Nov. 25. Did you know that every single penny deposited in our Red Kettles stays right here in Quartzsite to help the less fortunate? Last year (among other things) Red Kettle funds sent 5 youngsters to a 7 day summer camp. We could defi nitely use additional bell ringers; you may choose your preferred site and time. Teams of two are preferred. Please apply at The Salvation Army Thrift Store, 101 So Moon Ave. We're open 9-1, six days a week, closed Sunday. A big thank you to "Addicted to Deals" for their donation of some won- derful shelving units. Some of them will be used to display our extensive assortment of Christmas decorations. Others will replace older display units in our main store. We appreciate "Addicted to Deals" support and help. Stop and and see the new additions! The Salvation Army updates "Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present."~ Bil Keane
