23 Another highlight of our transition programming was offering our Sprout eCourse to a group of our AYV alumni. The 9-week Sprout e-Course helps youth develop the skills and tools to build their own social venture projects. This Sprout cohort brought together a group of 30 AYV Alumni from 17 countries. We also created the Educators for Media Making Community of Practice as a space where educators can share their media making experiences and insights, connect with other educators, and find resources related to running self sustaining youth programs. Finally, we launched a Media Making Stories of Change Contest to share the impact that AYV has had on youth and communities around the world. Over 50 submissions were received from around the globe. The top 3 were chosen to receive scholarship prizes. A D O B E Y O U T H V O I C E S I M P A C T S T O R Y Ya'Shalan Nelson was a participant in the Sprout e-Course for Young Media Makers. Through the Sprout e-Course Ya'Shalan was able to further develop her film "The Fifth," which seeks to create a platform for cultural grievance in the U.S. pertaining to subject crime, or lack thereof. As she expressed, "the Sprout course has encouraged me to stay motivated and reminded me of my passions. There have been many critiques for project analysis and I've spent many hours stepping outside of my project and seeing it from the outside looking in, with fresh perspectives. The advisors have always encouraged personal analysis and have made themselves available for confidence. They created a safe-space and were always open for questions and concerns. With all the feedback given, I was able to think more clearly and pursued more passion project with much more passion than I started out with. I'm very thankful for the critiques and consideration for my mental health while pursuing my project.
