IntroducIng Father Pat o'BrIen The 2016-17 school year is underway with a fresh new outlook. Our first introduction is our new Pastor, Father Pat O'Brien. Archbishop Gustavo came to St. Pius to install Fr. Pat in a beautiful ceremony. Fr. Pat was born in New York and has two siblings. His father was a Navy JAG officer, so moving around was the norm growing up. Fr. Pat studied at Conception Seminary and St. Thomas in Denver, Colorado. He arrived in San Antonio three years ago and has served at OLPH in Selma and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in San Antonio. His first day at St. Pius was July 1. Welcome, Father Pat! athletIcs For our students After an absence of more than 20 years, football has returned to St. Pius. Six-man football is fast-paced and fun to watch. An alumna of St. Pius School, we are thrilled to have her return to St. Pius and teach music to the elementary students. She has made an immediate impact on the campus and the Mass and we are glad she is here. Brian Otto and J-Kraft Inc. teamed up to give our library the addition of a beautiful new shelf. Additionally, thanks to the support of the PTC and members of the community, Mrs. Reed now has a new Promethean Board. This interactive media device helps engage students in active learning. We hope that by our next newsletter there are more exciting announcements about new computers, a bus, and more opportunities for our students. We look forward to a successful year.
