Throughout the summer, multiple updates were made at the chapter house, including a new stair runner and rugs in the grand foyer; new wallpaper, curtains, and accents in the main floor guest bathroom; fresh paint in the kitchen; and updates to the porch landscaping. The new updates look great and were made just in time for the undergraduate's return to campus and formal recruitment. Formal recruItment numbers exceed Quota Fifteen sororities on campus participated in formal recruitment in August. Beta Chi hosted an alumnae day before recruitment began, inviting alumnae to partake in a mock rotation and conversation workshop. This year, under Panhellenic rules, no skits or songs were performed and each chapter recruited through conversation only. Throughout the week-long recruitment, Beta Chi hosted more than 1,500 potential new members and held 56 individual parties. We exceeded quota by welcoming 88 new members, including eight legacies, into the sisterhood and on October 21- 22, all 88 members were initiated. undergraduates make 238 e. maxwell Home The undergraduates have been incredibly busy this fall, hosting numerous events at the chapter house. From Homecoming events and football game tailgates to Parent's Weekend and Founders Day, 238 E. Maxwell has been buzzing with activity. Additionally, the undergraduates held game day viewing parties, big/little reveal, sisterhood nights, and chapter dinners. This year, we also added extra meals to the transient board to allow out-of-house women more opportunity to have informal meals at the chapter house. Our goal with this initiative is to make everyone feel at home, even if they do not live in the chapter house. membersHIp growtH brIngs cHanges With the addition of our 88 new members, our chapter has more than 350 sisters. Full chapter meetings can no longer be held at the chapter house, and to make due, we have allowed seniors to opt out of meetings in replacement with other programs, and share a lot of information online. If we have another large pledge class next fall, we will have to move our chapter meetings to a lecture hall on campus or nearby elementary school. We have also made changes to chapter dinner, which is now served buffet style and in shifts. As always, if you are interested in serving on the Beta Chi House Corporation Board and being directly involved in chapter house decisions, please contact me.
