University of Florida p. 3 www.ufato.org S urrounded by ATWs from across the country, Alpha Omega shined at the fraternity's 82nd Biennial Congress, earning four outstanding honors for chapter performance throughout the 2015-16 academic year. For the second year in a row, the Chapter earned the fraternity's coveted True Merit Bowl, the 14th in the Chapter's history. Alpha Omega previously earned True Merit in 1969, 1974, 1979, 1989, 1990, 1993, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2015. Additionally, the National ATW fraternity honored the Alpha Omega Chapter with the Impact Award (honorable mention), an award named in honor of ATW founder Erskine Mayo Ross, whose original gift of $5,000 in 1935 established the ATW Foundation. The award recognizes chapters that exemplify outstanding charitable giving in their communities and beyond. Alpha Omega was previously named an honorable mention for the award in 2012 and a national runner-up in 2011. The Chapter was also recognized with the Excellence Award for campus involvement and leadership development and with the Scholarship Award (honorable mention). On campus, the Chapter was recently presented the Honorable Service Award from the Collegiate Veteran Society, which exists to help fellow veterans in the transition from military to college life and to enrich the community and the campus with veteran and patriotic events. Chapter Earns Second Consecutive True Merit Bowl, Other Awards AwArd MArks 14th true Merit Bowl in ChApter history Howe Wallace '74 Assumes Third Term on ATW National Board of Directors H owe Wallace '74 has been elected to serve the remainder of a position term on the National ATW Fraternity Board of Directors. Howe, who was serving on the ATW Foundation's Board of Governors, was recruited by ATW's National President, Dr. Timothy Clipson, and elected by the current Board to fill the recently vacated Board of Directors role. Howe resigned from his position with the Foundation to take on this important role with the fraternity's National Board of Directors. In assuming this position, Howe will be serving his third term on the ATW National Board of Directors. Howe is also a member of the Alpha Omega Board of Trustees and a former Worthy Master (1976-77) of the Alpha Omega Chapter.
