Page 4 Pike Press T he Gamma Chi Chapter has been extremely active over the past few months. We have made it a focus to continually improve ourselves in the classroom as well as our extracurricular events. Our goal is to exceed the new Interfraternity Council GPA requirements. We pride ourselves in representing the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity by being active in organiza- tions across campus while holding multiple leadership positions. We com- pete in multiple intramural leagues, excelling in many of them. The chapter has participated in a number of sorority philanthropic events and hosted our own event this fall. We will continue improving ourselves throughout the semester and look to exceed expectations. Path for Academic Success Last spring, the chapter earned its highest GPA in the history of Gamma Chi—a 3.08—ranking us 12th on campus among all fraternities. We look to continue our improvement into the top 10, top five, and eventually earn the top GPA on campus. We have access to many different resources, in- cluding mentor programs for different majors, access to the University Ac- ademic Success Center, help with registering for classes, as well as various guest speakers and seminars held throughout the school year. Fire Safety Event This fall, we held the first Firehouse Fever philanthropic event benefiting the Stillwater Fire Department and their fire safety education programs. The event was a huge success in its first year, and we had many sororities participate, raising more than $1,000. 60 Men Signed Summer recruitment proved extremely successful as the chapter signed the most men for any fraternity on campus, and rivaled the top Pike chapters nationally. We signed 60 men and look to groom them into true Pikes that exemplify SLAG. Leaders at OSU We pride ourselves on the leadership displayed by our members. The fol- lowing are great examples of our implanted leadership at Oklahoma State University: chief of staff for the Student Government Association; pres- ident of Order of Omega Honors Society; chairman of Into the Streets, Homecoming Big, and Homecoming Steering Committees; two athletes from the varsity track and field team; two athletes from the club golf team; and one athlete from the club hockey team. High Intramural Goals Our chapter truly embodies the 'A' in SLAG as we compete in intramurals. We excel in field hockey, quickball, flag football, soccer, and softball. We hope to match last year's performance when we finished second in the Homecoming Football Frenzy tournament. Halfway through the fall semester, I am happy with where this chapter stands and where it is headed. It makes me proud as president to see the men of this chapter excel in everything they do. I would also like to thank all of our alumni for their support. With this combination, many great things lie ahead for Gamma Chi Chapter.
