P I K E P R E S S Gamma Chi Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha at Oklahoma State University FALL 2016 T he end of the year is fast approaching, and so are some major construc- tion milestones for Gamma Chi. At the beginning of October, con- struction crews finished installing the roofing system and began installing drywall on the upper floors of the new Pike house. Also, we began install- ing brick on the exterior of the house, starting with the east wall. Weather permitting over the winter, we are still on track to move into the house early spring of 2017! As you may remember, in our last newsletter I made a call to brothers for gifts of a significant size so the chapter may have enough funds to properly complete our magnificent new home. Since then, we have raised $67,850 in new gifts (with a couple of brothers making gifts at the $10,000 to $15,000 level). Our total raised to date equals $2,412,300, with $95,281 in pledge payments due by year-end. While we are extremely grateful for every dollar pledged to the campaign, we are still $1,787,700 away from our $4.2 million goal. Help Continue Our Tradition If you are one of the 900-plus brothers who have yet to give to the cam- paign, I ask you to reflect upon the time when you were an undergraduate. Remember when you participated in our initiation ceremony and took the Pi Kappa Alpha oath? These same traditions are still alive and well, and the ideals behind that ritual are sought out by today's young Pikes. Among many other lifelong benefits, the chapter develops personality, promotes mutual understanding, crystalizes positive habits, induces cooperative liv- ing, encourages scholarship, widens the circle of friendships, and fosters high ideals. Fraternities are highly relevant to collegiate life today and the young men we initiate are hungry for our involvement. Gamma Chi Needs You Now Gamma Chi and all of its past, present, and future brothers and their com- munities need you to step forward and recommit yourself to this cause. It may have been a long time since you interacted with Pi Kappa Alpha, but my guess is you still maintain a passion for our fraternity and a desire to see our legacy carry on at OSU. We need you to be involved in giving, participating, and sharing yourself, and we need it now! Don't forget, new gifts from now until December 31 will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $2 million. Your Involvement Makes a Difference Your participation will be the catalyst for other brothers to do the same. The generosity of a few has brought us a long way, but your generosity will enable us to continue this exciting progress. I know you have many financial and time commitments in your life, but I am asking you to add PKA to those commitments in a meaningful way. Please use the enclosed pledge card to submit your gift before year-end, or go online and give at http://osupike.kintera.org/donate. Only 60 days remain until December 31, and Gamma Chi is counting on you.
