Before his job at United Airlines, he had the chance to fly the KU citation jet from August 2014 to mid-May of 2015. E-mail: joeku.94@gmail.com I t was a pleasure to attend Karnea in Orlando, Fla., this summer, truly the greatest of all Delt events, with four outstanding Gamma Tau undergraduate Brothers: Chapter President austin abbott '17, Vice President Internal alex Lipinski '18, Treasurer Brock edwards '17, and Secretary Bryson Brown '18. The biennial event kicked off with a keynote address by Lee Corso, one of college football's most entertaining analysts. His message, "Striving for Excellence, Not Success," was humorous while candid and inspired everyone to recommit themselves to a life of excellence. At the first luncheon we heard from Vinny Pagliuca, director of creative costuming and entertainment metrics for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, who spoke about why Disney is so successful. The theme for Karnea this year was "Discover, Transform, Dream," which undergraduates worked toward through multiple breakout programming blocks; committee meetings; business meetings; a JDRF fundraiser, which Gamma Tau members finished first amongst those who ran; and an afternoon and evening at Walt Disney World. The highlight for me as Chapter advisor was presenting a DELT Talk, similar to a TED Talk, where I featured videos of our Gamma Tau undergraduate Brothers to highlight examples of using behavior-specific praise to transform a chapter to be positive, proactive, and preventative. Karnea concluded with a perfect and inspiring model Rite of Iris and Ritual, followed by the evening banquet where our new international president, Jim garboden, University of Pittsburgh '88, was installed with great pomp and ceremony. I highly recommend all alumni attend division conferences each year in February and Karnea every other year in the summer!
