SAVE THE DATE Alpha Nu Sets Plans for Success Chapter Continues to Succeed in Academics, Philanthropy, and Community Involvement T he Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi has con- tinued to strive for excellence with outstand- ing achievements in academics, philanthropy, membership, and alumni honors. The Chapter has implemented the new national Preparation for Brotherhood pledgeship program with a great group of young men. Magister Otto Mar- tinek '16 says, "They are one of the most mature group of new members I have seen in my four years at Alpha Nu." New Academic Initiatives Last spring, the Chapter GPA was 3.2, which ranked 15th out of 29 fraternities. New initiatives for academics include awarding four $1,000 scholarships each semester, starting this fall. In addition, various academic awards are given to men who earn a 3.5 GPA or above. "I am working more closely with the new members to help them develop effective study habits, as well as providing tutors for those who need it," Scholarship Chairman Rami Asi '18 said. Community Involvement An increasing number of Alpha Nu brothers have endeavored in mentoring children at Wooldridge Elementary School. Annotator William Fowler '17 stated, "It's amazing to see such active participation from different brothers in different fields of philanthropy." In addition to Wooldridge mentoring, the Chapter has continued to be a key supporter of our B+ buddy, Nicholas. Weekly hospital visits and a B+ barbecue have been a few of the recent events that have made Nicholas happy to see his favorite role models. Fight Night November 11 The Chapter is looking forward to Fight Night on November 11. In the last three years, Alpha Nu has raised over $200,000 for local and national charities. "It is imperative that we continue to have a fantastic attendance from alumni of Alpha Nu. Fight Night revolves around their presence and participation," said Fight Night Chairman Ricky Martinez '17. The alumni presence at the Notre Dame tailgate was a pleasant sight to see. It is always great to see Alpha Nu alumni telling old stories and reconnecting with their brothers. I would love to continue to see alumni stopping by the house to visit. The doors are always open for Alpha Nu alumni.
