EPSILON OMICRON NEWS 3 BROTHERHOOD IN THE BLOOD Father and Son Share Their Epsilon Omicron Experiences I n January 2014, John Campbell '86 got to take part in an event that not many fathers experience. John had the chance to participate in initiation and give his son, Collin Campbell '14, his pin to join the Epsilon Omicron brotherhood. Both John and Collin were drawn to Epsilon Omicron for the same reason—they liked the men living in the house and appreciated the Christian principles the fraternity was founded on. John earned a Bachelor of Science in business management from Oklahoma State. After college, John served in the United States Marine Corps from 1990-94. He then went to law school and is a partner at Aston, Mathis, Jacobson, Campbell & Tiger in Tulsa, Okla. In 2005, John joined the Army Reserves and was mobilized in Iraq from 2007-08. John said ATW helped prepare him for the military. "I learned how to get along and co-exist in a big group with diverse people and it helped me be patient. I can thrive in a diverse and chaotic environment," John said. Collin shares those same sentiments toward ATW and how it helped shape him into who he is today. "You're most affected by the people around you, and the people I'm around share the same values our brotherhood is built on. Being surrounded by Epsilon Omicron brothers has kept me on a good path," Collin said. Collin is working toward a degree in industrial engineering with a minor in marketing with plans to graduate in May 2018. Although John and Collin lived in the Chapter House nearly 30 years apart, their favorite part of living in the house is the same. "It was just great to always have a friend around that I could spend time with. There was never a time I felt like I didn't have anyone to talk to, and I really appreciated the brotherhood surrounding me," John said. Collin shares the same idea, "I always enjoyed being able to walk down the hall and find someone to hang out with," he said. John has the chance to see the Chapter House whenever he is near campus or visiting Collin. He says though the physical structure hasn't changed much since he joined 30 years ago, the brothers living in it have grown in positive ways. He's proud to see the active members' balance their lives between academics, community service, and fun. John and his wife, Sharon, who is a member of Alpha Delta Pi at OSU, live in Tulsa, Okla., with their youngest daughter. They have twin daughters in their freshmen year of college at Auburn University and Oklahoma State. The father and son duo enjoy tailgating at many Cowboy football games and seeing each other at various ATW events. John also enjoys biking, traveling, exercising, and cooking. Collin spends his spare time playing guitar, reading, spending time outside, and playing intramurals. You can reach John at john.a.l.campbell@gmail.com and Collin at cwc1994@gmail.com.
