2 THE IRIS O n Saturday, September 17, approximately 200 alumni and guests, including 18 from the original class, attended Epsilon Mu's 50th anniversary celebration. Tours of the Shelter were given by undergraduate brothers, featuring renovations of the 1860 original structure and the new weight room. Brothers also enjoyed a cookout and pre-tailgate gathering, provided by an unsuspecting parent of a new member. Numerous alumni tailgated with the undergraduates before BSU's decisive victory over Eastern Kentucky. The evening festivities began with a moment of silence honoring our brothers lodging in the Chapter Eternal. A mock ritual was also presented by the undergraduate ritual team. Alumni enjoyed a dinner served by Epsilon Mu's own Scott Wise '95 on behalf of Scotty's Brewhouse. A proclamation was presented by Executive Vice President of Delta Tau Delta Jim Russell, Purdue University '75 to Chapter President Matt Nardini '17. Matt then delivered a state of the chapter brief. Dan Hockney '65 gave a brief history of our beginnings and brought up those original charter members attending. An update on our capital campaign was addressed, as well as construction plans for our beloved Shelter. Three alumni brothers, Dan, Guy Driggers '87, and Brian Hobbs '99, were recognized for their dedication to Epsilon Mu and received the Distinguished Service Award. Afterward, a Brothers of All Generations Gather for 50th Anniversary Celebration United States Supreme Court Justice and President of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity Thomas C. Clark presented the Epsilon Mu charter to Chapter President Jim Nelson '67 on November 12, 1966. Epsilon Mu alumni gather outside the Shelter at the 50th anniversary celebration. Dan Hockney '65 received the Distinguished Service Award that was presented during the celebration. The shirt he is wearing is a 52-year-old Pi Delta Gamma athletic uniform, which he used as a history prop when giving a short historic presentation at the event. Eighteen DTD charter members attended the celebration. large number of alumni retired for a nostalgic romp to the Village. We cannot thank everyone enough for coming out and celebrating Epsilon Mu's milestone achievement. This was certainly a night to remember, and we look forward to the next 50 years of Delta Tau Delta at BSU!
