We had many come back with medals and would like to shout-out and acknowledge their hard work. Congratulations to: Sherrill Jenkins (75 – 79) won a Gold medal in Softball Throw (79' 4"), a Gold medal in Billiards, a Silver medal in Discus Throw (38' 1"), and a Bronze medal in Shotput (22' 8"). Judy Latham (70 – 74) won a Gold medal in Basketball Shooting (score of 11), a Gold medal in Football Throw (score of 110), and a Gold medal in Softball Throw (71' 3"). Ann McSwain (70 – 74) won Gold medal in Spin Casting (score of 24), a Silver medal in Basketball Shooting (score of 7), and a Silver medal in Softball Throw (66' 6"). Susan Melton (55 – 59) won a Silver medal in Swimming 200-yard Breast Stroke (004:32.04), a Silver medal in Swimming 50-yard Butterfly (001:00.09), and a Bronze medal in Swimming 50-yard Breast Stroke (000:58.02). George Patterson (50 – 54) won a Bronze medal in Track 1500 Meter Run (005:41.34), and a Silver in Track 5K Run (022:14.01). Rachel White (80 – 84) won Gold medal in Swimming 50-yard Freestyle (00:45.87), a Gold medal in Swimming 200- yard Back Stroke (004:21.79) and a Gold medal in Swimming 100-yard Freestyle (001:51.09), and a Gold medal in Swimming 50-yard Back Stroke (00:52.94), and a Gold medal in Swimming 100-yard Back Stroke (001:59.86). Bill Young (90 – 94) won Gold in Pickleball Singles, and won a Gold in Badminton Singles, and won Gold in Basketball Team Tournament. The competition at the 2016 North Carolina Senior Games State Finals was held in Raleigh on September 26th – Oct. 2nd. They qualified at the annual 2016 Cleveland Co. Senior Games this past Spring. Cleveland Co. Senior Games is part of a state- wide network of 53 local programs sanctioned by North Carolina Senior Games, Inc. NCSG is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing year-round health promotion and education for adults 50 years of age and better. Senior Games is sponsored statewide by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services. Qualification for next year's State Finals will be held in the spring of 2017, April 3rd – 7th.
