Alpha Beta Chapter 3 A lpha Beta finished off the spring semester with many great achievements and milestones. From being the top fundraising team at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Dance Marathon on campus to a visit from our National President this spring semester was incredibly rewarding and exciting. We look forward to the 2016-17 academic year, and are excited to see what is in store for us. 2016 fall reCruITMenT seCured 142 neW MeMBers Fall formal recruitment was one of our most successful yet! We kicked off work week with a Skype call with Beth Monnin, Rho '80 and darlene reyes, Kappa Eta '77. Our Skype call with Beth made us all so proud to be Alpha Betas and gave our entire chapter much needed confidence heading into recruitment. We are looking forward to getting to know the amazing new Phis that we worked so hard to add to our chapter! founders' day suCCess In addition to a very successful recruitment, we co-hosted a Founders' Day celebration with our local alumnae and were excited to present multiple sisters the silver anniversary badge, celebrating 25 years of service to Phi Mu. The stories and memories shared by our alumnae made this event one of our members' favorite events thus far, and we look forward to making this celebration a tradition for Alpha Beta. JaIl 'n BaIl ProMoTes CaMPus PhIlanThroPIC InvolveMenT Perhaps our most exciting accomplishments last year were our philanthropy events benefitting Arkansas Children's Hospital. Philanthropy Chairman Breckin lippoldt '13 brought back an event we've done in the past called Jail 'N Bail, and made it bigger and better than ever! She constructed a jail cell out of PVC pipe and pink streamers to place in front of our campus union building and main library. Other Greek organizations presidents volunteered as prisoners and were challenged to collect enough money from passersby to bail themselves out of jail. This event created quite a stir on campus, as it allowed other organizations to challenge each other to raise the most money, as well as raising awareness for our philanthropy. Breckin commented that, "This event was a huge success. It allowed our chapter to raise just shy of $24,500 for the kids at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, and I can't wait to continue these traditions this year!" lookInG forWard To our fuTure After a very busy year and all of our members' hard work, we were honored to receive the Panhellenic Spirit Award, celebrating our significant involvement in the Greek community on campus. On behalf of Alpha Beta, I want to thank all of our parents, alumnae, and other supporters for the time and donations you've given to ensure our chapter's continued growth and success. We are sincerely grateful for the active participation and support we've received this past year, and look forward to working with all of you to make this chapter the best it can be.
