On Friday, September 9, 2016 Chief William Ponce was presented with a beautiful plaque for his new office wall, thanking him for his leadership and guidance as well as good luck/well wishes from his police force as he prepares to take the Chief of Police position with the Town of Quartzsite. CRIT honors new QPD Chief of Police My La Paz organization released a beautiful 30-minute video thanking partners and sharing the successes of their first year. AZARA (Arizona Amateur Radio Assoc.) is a youth-led organization exploring the many wonders and possibilities that exist in radio science, amateur radio and space research. Dave Anderson stated, "We deliver fun and engaging learning opportu- nities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and work hand-in-hand with local schools, communities, families and amateur ra- dio clubs to create new opportunities to inspire and lift our youth up into learning and possible careers in radio & space science delivers programs working in cooperation with area schools, youth organizations, commu- nity leaders, town managers, regional not-for-profit organizations and a large number of volunteers... all coming together for the single purpose to create new hope and opportunities for our youth and families." Anderson noted, "We have just completed our first year of new youth projects and I want to thank everyone involved for making it happen! As we prepare to make contact with the astronauts on the International Space Station from Quartzsite, we want to thank all the residents and organizations who made this and so much more possible for our youth."
