2 Bishop seaBury helped prepare Martin sicilian '13 for future endeavors F or Martin Sicilian '13, attending Bishop Seabury was a pivotal point in his life. "It was an incredible experience," Martin says. "Coming to Seabury ended up becoming a big life transition—while attending, I learned respect, how to become more comfortable in my surroundings, and found success." Coming to Seabury, he was quick to find out that every teacher cared about the achievements and wellbeing of each student. He is thankful for faculty such as Dr. Schawang, Mr. Gollier, Mr. Pulsinelli, Mr. Patterson, and many more. "With the size of Seabury, I felt like I was a part of a small, friendly community," Martin says. "I was able to develop closer ties with my classmates." While he learned many lessons inside the classroom, the extracurricular activities proved to be just as valuable. He was a member of the debate, forensics, and tennis teams. "I was expected to be independent and become a leader." Martin says. Now a senior at Pomona College, Martin has been able to hone skills cultivated at Seabury. He has interned for the Kansas Democratic Party, John W. Tulac Law Firm, and Valens Global in Washington, D.C. This summer, he served as a research assistant at Georgetown University and was a paralegal intern at the Federal Trade Commission. Martin will finish his undergraduate career strong, as he continues roles as an appeals chairman on the Pomona College Student Judicial Board and as editor-in-chief at the Claremont Journal of Law and Public Policy. Martin recently joined Seabury's Alumni Association and is ready to stay connected in a new capacity. "I'm thankful for my time at Seabury," Martin says. "It was a tight-knit community where people were selfless toward each other," Martin says. Following graduation, he plans to attend law school. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing tennis, and playing video games. You can contact Martin at mjs32013@mymail.pomona.edu.
