How long have you volunteered for Rutherford H o u s i n g P a r t n e r s h i p ? Four years. How much time do you spend volunteering? Around 100 hours. Why do you volunteer for Rutherford Housing Partnership? I volunteer for this organization because I have a heart for those in our county who are less fortunate and are in need of assistance. I am proud of my community because it is the place where I have been raised for 17 years, and I feel that it is my duty to give back and support it so that others will have the same opportunities I have received. What do you fi nd most rewarding about volunteering? I fi nd the relationships that you gain with others to be the most rewarding about volunteering. I've met so many people in all of the jobs that I've done, including those who I get to volunteer with as well as those I have volunteered for. I've developed many friendships with these people that have lasted throughout my four years. Has there been a specifi c project that you've most enjoyed? The spaghetti suppers that are held at R-S Central as benefi ts for RHP have been the events I've enjoyed the most. On seven Thursdays from September to May, a spaghetti supper is held before the Carolina Gospel Association concerts which help raise money for RHP. I've enjoyed these suppers the most because I've made very good friends with the volunteers that work at the suppers and I enjoy the type of work. My typical job at these suppers is to help set up all of the materials in order to serve. When serving, my job is usually to serve drinks. I really enjoy helping out because most of the people that come to these events are very kind and easy to get along with. Have you received any awards or recognitions for your volunteerism? Volunteer Rutherford 2016 Certifi cate of Achievement for outstanding personal involvement and signifi cant contributions toward the betterment of Rutherford County. What would you tell others to encourage them to volunteer with Rutherford Housing Partnership? If you have a heart for those who are less fortunate than you, I would encourage you to volunteer with RHP in some kind of way. If you are not the type of person to go roof, there are other ways to help. Volunteers are needed for different fundraisers and benefi ts to help raise money. RHP also does more than just roofi ng. They also do all different types of remodeling and house repairs. So don't let the fear of heights keep you from helping this awesome organization. The new graduates are Jaqueline Wilkie Brown, Victoria laine Brown, April Lee Cloninger, Tamara Elizabeth Conley, Amanda Johnsonbaugh Hamrick, Sulma Yaney Pereira and Kayla Diane Spencer. After a welcome from Dr. Johnny Smith, Isother- mal's dean of Health and Public Services, there was an invocation by Tina Porter, Pre-Health Sciences and Nursing advisor, and music by Robin Gardner, a 2014 graduate of the program. The keynote address was given by Dr. Charles Bond, an orthopedic surgeon. Remarks about affi liate clinical education were given by Donna Schronce, clinical coordinator at Rutherford Re- gional Medical Center. Kayla Spencer, one of the graduates, thanked the families of the students before instructor Cathy Dover and Schronce awarded the pins to the new graduates. The graduates are now certifi ed surgical techni- cians. The clinical affi liates of the program are Ruth- erford Regional Medical Center, Carolinas Health- Care System Cleveland, Carolinas HealthCare Sys- tem Blue Ridge and Caromont Healthcare Affi liates.
