"If undergraduates maintain integrity they cannot help but become a leader," Joe said. He also serves as Master Steward, traveling to chapters all across the country, presenting programming to undergraduates. Joe also trains future men to serve in the High Pi position themselves. Joe enjoyed the spirit of True Brotherhood that was present when going through rituals in his time as an undergraduate. Lambda Chi gave him the opportunity to strengthen and bring out his integrity as a person. Joe encourages alumni who have lost touch with Alpha-Omicron Zeta "to talk to the undergraduates as True Brothers." He said, "See in them what you see in yourself. Find a way to elevate and propel them forward. Become personally involved; you will not regret it. All chapters struggle with having enough boots on the ground to help guide and support our young brothers." Joe is proud of the recent Phoenix award the chapter received at General Assembly. "It was all because of the work and effort of the undergraduates," Joe said, proud of the men he has had the chance to mentor. Joe and his wife, Lisa, live in Ninevah, Ind., with their son, Hunter, who is 14 years old, and their three rescued wolves, Rosa, Akyi, and Blue. He enjoys fishing, duck hunting, and coaching his son's baseball team. Joe's favorite quote comes from Russian novelist and philosopher, Dostoevsky, and sums up his feelings toward service to Lambda Chi: "Let us always remember how good it was to be here when we were all together, united by a good and kind feeling that obscured our imperfections and made us, perhaps, a little better than we are."
