Bull & Gelding Sale
Hundreds of ranchers come to Red Bluff
from across the country for the annual Bull &
Gelding Sale, held in late January — one of
Red Bluff's biggest events.
While the sale started out as strickly a
Hereford bull show and sale, it has evolved
into an all-breeds beef sale that also boasts
some of the best ranch horses, mules,
replacement heifers and working stock dogs
the West has to offer.
It's been called the biggest bull sale west
of the Rocky Mountains, and for many it
helps keep their farm businesses alive and
well.
The culmination of the event is the Blood
and Guts Bull Riding Challenge Saturday
night, which celebrated its 17th year in 2009.
Other favorite aspects to the week's
schedule are the Cowboy Pancake
Breakfast, Cattlewomen's Luncheon, Chico
Ag Alumni Reunion, a massive trade show
offering everything Western, and of course,
all the sales made and prizes that are award-
ed.
