"What was so exciting was that we had brothers from every era back in the house," Housing Corporation Treasurer Brandon Choos '00 (#767) says. "The undergraduates really got a feel for the history and tradition that they are now a part of. At the Ghosts of the Past luncheon, in addition to a great lunch and marveling at how young everyone looked in their composite, brothers took time to recognize Dean Jan McMahill, a Phi Delt little sister, spouse, longtime chapter academic advisor, and dean of the School of Education. Brothers presented her with a lifetime achievement award for her dedication to the brotherhood. Without Dean McMahill, we would not be back on campus. We then serenaded her on bended knee with the Phi Delt Sweetheart Song. After the event, alumni reconvened at the West End Lounge for an all- Phi sing, where more than 100 brothers attended and did their best to remember as many lyrics from as many songs as they could from their days in the chapter. During Relays and in the months since, the Housing Corporation (HC) has received numerous generous financial contributions, as well as commitments that alumni will be back next year to celebrate the full restoration of our chapter. These financial contributions, along with renovation funding and ongoing maintenance services provided by Mary and Doug Bruce '72 (#226), have put the HC in the best financial position it has been in for years. Critical Time Ahead for Iowa Delta Coming off of a fantastic Relays and record attendance by Iowa Delta men at the Phi Delta Theta General Headquarters Kleberg Leadership Institute, the colony members are excited for a successful recruitment. They spent much of August getting the house and each other ready to recruit the class that will lead to full chapter status. There are 26 men in the colony, with nine having graduated last year, and they need to maintain the chapter's good financial standing, excellent academics, and bring the colony membership to 40 brothers to be granted full chapter status. So, their task is clear. They need to recruit at least 14 men and maintain their good financial and academic standing, and they will achieve their goal. Here is the schedule for the fall: September 10-13: Fall recruitment September 13-23: Bids remain open and the men can continue to recruit November 18-19: Chapter installation Mark your calendars for the weekend of November 18. We want as many alumni as possible to be a part of the installation ceremony! Yours in the Bond, Tim Coonan '96 (#713) President, Iowa Delta Housing Corporation Housing Corporation Builds Momentum for Iowa Delta's Recharter on Campus You don't want to miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime celebration—make plans with a brother today to attend the Chapter installation!
