And I would also say that barbeque pits all over America will be responsible for a little global warming on that day. It is also an important day in the life of our country. It reminds us of our freedom and freedoms. It reminds us of those who fought for this freedom in the past and those who are keeping it now in places like Afghanistan and Iraq. It seems that we all struggle with what freedom means within our own borders. How much freedom do we really have and how much can we give those who want to live here. The Lady in the harbor of New York invites "all your huddled masses yearning for freedom to come to this land of America." And all are invited, and all may come. But in coming to our land they must remember that this is our home. And when you're in someone else's home, you respect and abide by their rules. Let me illustrate. I live in Harrogate, Tennessee, on Iris Drive. You are welcome to come to my house any time, no matter what color, na- tionality, or religion you may be. But when you come into my house you fall under my rules. We don't smoke in my house. We don't cuss in my house. We don't watch certain T.V. programs in my house. Now these rules are not to hinder your freedoms; but you see, you have come into my house. America is also my house. It is the house of Americans. And there are some things that others need to know when they come here, such as the fact that we are a nation founded on Christian principles. In fact, it was one of our founding fathers, Patrick Henry, who said, "It cannot be emphasized to strongly or too often that this great na- tion was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians, not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ." So when others come into this big house of America, at times they are going to feel uncomfortable, because in our house…………… We will pledge one nation Under God. Our money will say In God we Trust. Our congress will open in prayer We will celebrate the birth and resurrec- tion of Jesus Christ. And we do all of these in the language of our native tongue. Again, this in no way is meant to take away the freedom of others, but they have come into our house.
