Bring your family and friends to the annual Community Picnic which will be held Friday, August 12th at 4pm - 6pm at Isaiah 58 Project. The event is hosted by local churches and is free for everyone. It's a great opportunity for neigh- bors to get together and enjoy a good meal with each other. The meal will include free hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, chips, dessert and beverages. The public is invited to the free event. Isaiah 58 Project is located on Moon Mountain, just off Main Street, Quartzsite. A GoFundMe account has been set up for Joanne Winer, of Celia's Rainbow Gardens. Joanne was hospitalized late July for kidney issues and is still recovering in Abrazo Central Campus in Phoenix. After being ill for two weeks, she finally went to the clinic and learned "her potassium levels went through the roof," said Paul Winer. The high potassium levels were also affecting her heart for a while, but medication worked well. Her kidneys responded very well to medication, so dialysis was not needed. She's had three procedures to remove kidney stones. Paul said, "Now their draining her knees to alieviate the pain of being in bed for so long." Joanne has been a member of this community for many years. The Winer family has made many contributions to Operation Hero Comfort. Joanne is also an indepen- dent contributor to Desert Messen- ger and Quartzsite Times. Quartzsite Town Council recently appointed her to the Parks Board, as she has been the guiding force behind Celia's Rainbow Gardens at Town Park. As a co-founder of the Quartzsite Business Chamber of Commerce, you'll find Joanne volunteering at the information center weekly. The medical & travel costs have skyrocketed, so friends created the GoFundMe account. You can also donate directly to an account set up at Horizon Community Bank under Joanne Winer fund.
